The purpose of DAMA is to promote the concept that information is as vital a corporate resource as people, money, and capital assets. DAMA exists to bring together people who want to make the information resource effective in meeting the business objectives of their respective enterprises.

DAMA members recognize that the ability of an organization to use its information resource effective depends on:
