DAMA DAY 2003
Our annual December DAMA Day was a great success. The speakers were very knowledgeable and interesting, the facility was great, the food was good, and the renewed friendships and new acquaintances were wonderful. Plus, for the first time in four years, we actually made a little money on the affair.
I'm sure that I speak for the entire chapter by giving a huge THANK YOU to Wendy Wood for the great job she did in managing this most difficult affair. This was her third year as DAMA Day Director and certainly this year, the third time was a charm. Wendy's management skills, perseverance, imagination, and her innovative ways of solving problems contributed to this success. Please seek out Wendy and thank her for a job well done.
I would also like to thank all of the other volunteers who helped plan, setup, and run DAMA Day. It takes a great deal of work to make this a smooth running event.
In addition, I would like to especially thank Embarcadero Technologies and Venturi Technology Partners for their sponsorship of the lunch and snacks respectively. Please remember our sponsors when you are in need of any of the products and services that these two companies offer.
Last, our gratitude to SBC for providing the excellent facilities and allowing all of the DAMA guests to occupy their office. SBC's generosity was a key factor in returning DAMA Day to a profitable event.
DAMA DAY 2004
Wendy has informed me that she already has the keynote speaker and topic lined up for this year's DAMA DAY. It will be again held at SBC in San Francisco in early December 2004.
BOARD ELECTIONS
Its that time of year again. Nominations for the 2004 2005 board members will be opened at the February meeting. Elections will be held in March for the term that starts in April. Any member may run for any office. All that I ask is that you be prepared to take ownership and responsibility if you win a board position. The duties of each office are posted on our web site: www.sfdata.org .
