PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE FOR APRIL

Program Director Opening

The SF DAMA Board still has an opening for the Program Director position. The duties of this position include:
· Arrange speakers for monthly meetings
· Prepare and send invitation and thank-you notes to speakers for monthly meetings
· Take the speakers to lunch after monthly meetings
· Provide input about speaker topics and backgrounds to Communications Director
· Introduce speakers at monthly meetings
· Provide list of planned speakers for 2-4 months in advance
· Solicit membership for ideas on meeting agendas and speakers
This is a very important and interesting job. If you feel that the job is too time-consuming, you can partner with another person and share the duties. This is what we did last year. Please contact me if you are even slightly interested. We will not let you fail.

DAMA International Symposium

The 2004 DAMAi Symposium will be in Los Angeles the first week of May. I highly encourage attendance at this event. This is the biggest and most comprehensive conference dedicated to our profession. The things that you learn from the classes, presentations, and from networking are invaluable. I quite often refer to the conference proceedings when researching data-related topics.

I will be attending the semiannual Presidents Council meeting at the symposium. This is a meeting of all of the chapter presidents where we share topics of common interest. This year the focus will be on the new DAMA International Membership database and on the evolution of DAMAi from a “chapter-centric” to a “member-centric” organization.
