PRESENTATION
JAD Session – New SF-DAMA Membership Database
Facilitated by Walter Moeller, Principle Partners, Inc.
Background
The SF-DAMA Membership database has served the Chapter well these past several
years, but the consensus among the Board of Directors is that we have outgrown
our legacy system. We need bigger. We need better.
So just what does better mean? What information will this new database contain?
What are the business requirements? What will the logical model look like?
And finally, who can even begin to model such a thing? Who has experience doing
this sort of project? Who will work for free?
Well, we've put our collective heads together and decided that this is just the
sort of a job for .... (drum roll here) ..... The entire SF-DAMA Membership !
Yes, each and every one of you is invited to come and participate in the JAD
workshop that could, ultimately, result in the best membership database this side
of Information Heaven.
The workshop needs people who understand the business of organizational membership
management. We also need people who understand how to make technology work to meet
our ends. In short, we need you, fellow SF-DAMA Member. Can you be the Business
User and be the Analyst at the same time?
Workshop Ground Rules
Walter Moeller, our esteemed colleague and former SF-DAMA President, has graciously
offered to facilitate the proceedings. The meeting will be held at APL in downtown
Oakland. Walter has prepared the workshop ground rules.

Baseline Requirements
Another esteemed colleague and former SF-DAMA President, Dan Weller, has been kind
enough to draft a document for us that will constitute the baseline requirements
for our new membership database. Nothing is etched in stone, this document is meant
to be a starting point for your thoughts and ideas.

Summary
The expectations are high that our Chapter has what it takes to design a great new database. We are anticipating that this meeting will be informative, professionally
enriching and most of all FUN. We look forward to seeing you at APL on February 1st.
Don't miss this event.
