Topic: Using Taxonomies as Master Reference Metadata for the Enterprise

With proper governance, structural design and central access management, taxonomies are a valuable, reusable business information asset. By enriching taxonomies with key metadata and following best practices for persistence, dissemination, consumption and update, taxonomies can support a wide variety of structured and unstructured data classification needs, promote consistent information architecture and enable enterprise search in a global, distributed enviroment. In this session we'll discuss the basics of taxonomy framework design, describe important enrichment metadata, explore application use cases, and cover tips and techniques for ensuring persistence, scalability and governance.
